The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra invites you to an exceptional evening of music with Lithuania’s brightest violinist, international competition laureate Dalia Kuznecovaitė, and a program featuring the stunning works of Johannes Brahms (1833–1897) and Franz Liszt (1811–1886).
Dalia Kuznecovaitė (b. 1988) began playing the violin at the age of four. She studied at prestigious music schools in Germany – in Cologne with Prof. Zakhar Bron and in Rostock with Prof. Petru Munteanu. In 2014, she graduated with honors from the Paris National Conservatory, in the class of Prof. Boris Garlitsky, where she also received a special jury prize. Among D. Kuznecovaitė’s most significant achievements are the Gold Medal and First Prize at the International Henryk Szeryng Competition in Mexico (2008) and the title of laureate at the Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria (2008). The violinist is invited to perform with renowned orchestras worldwide, including the “Deutsche Radio”, “Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock” (Germany), “Kärtner” (Austria), Brittany (France), Kyiv Philharmonic (Ukraine), Mexico City, Monterrey (Mexico), Calgary (Canada), and other symphony orchestras. D. Kuznecovaitė is the first violinist of the Vilnius State Quartet and a docent at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. At the LVSO Concert Hall, the violinist will perform Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77 – the composer’s only concerto for this instrument, considered by critics as one of the four great German violin concertos alongside works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Max Bruch, and Felix Mendelssohn.
In the second half of the concert, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will perform Franz Liszt’s symphonic poems “Les Préludes” and “Mazeppa” from the composer’s famous cycle of 13 poems, which helped establish the genre of program music in symphonic repertoire and inspired later composers of the genre. The concert will conclude with one of F. Liszt’s most famous works – the Second Hungarian Rhapsody, vividly reflecting Hungarian folk music motifs.
This evening, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Jonas Janulevičius, Chief Conductor of the Kaunas State Musical Theatre and Professor at the Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy.
