Hailed as Young Singer of the Year 2015 by the International Opera Awards, which are as prestigious as Oscars in cinema, mezzosoprano Justina Gringytė will team up with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Gintaras Rinkevičius for a magnificent one-part New Year Gala in a programme of best-loved opera arias.
The recognition of the international music community followed her stunning performances of Carmen for the English National Opera. The talented singer captivated the classical press with her "knockout technique" and as The Scotsman wrote, with her ability to command the stage, "imperious one minute and fragile the next"; according to The Bachtrack, "all eyes were drawn to Justina Gringytė as Carmen."
These are not just fine words as Justina Gringytė is a much sought-after artist in major opera houses all over Europe including the Royal Opera House in London, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro Massimo of Palermo and others. She is also actively involved in social activities. To provide gifted children with the opportunity to get proper education and further develop their talents, in 2016 Justina Gringytė established her charity foundation in aid of young musicians.
