The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra is introducing a brand new premiere by composer Laimis Vilkončius – musical for children “Benedict and the Giraffe”. In schoolboy Benedict’s world there appears a creature, with whom it is so interesting to communicate. It is a talking giraffe. “What giraffe?” – quips the frightened grandmother. Maybe Benedict has simply fallen ill? In truth, the boy simply got bored of the toys at his home, and he curiously turns to his new friend. The giraffe is certainly remarkable – having arrived from Africa, she behaves like a truly highborn and petulant lady. Just look – such neck, such legs, and oh, those manners! The toys are wondering, what is happening? The game begins – it seems there are many things that the two friends need to teach each other…

In this performance the colourful, intriguing and vivid musical characters shall be created by charismatic artists Dominykas Vaitiekūnas (Benedict), Aistė Lasytė (Giraffe), Gabrielia Kuodytė (Grandmother) and pupils of the choral singing school for girls “Liepaitės“ (Toys). The picturesque music will be performed by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra led by conductor Ričardas Šumila, who was awarded the Young Artist prize at the Golden Cross of the Stage Awards in 2014.
