Vilnius Congress Hall is one of the city’s largest event venues located in the very centre of Vilnius and surrounded by numerous hotels.
Every night the Vilnius Congress Hall adorns the capital with its illumination resembling a star-spangled sky. Since 1999, the hall has been home to the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra (chief conductor and artistic director Gintaras Rinkevičius).
At present, this monumental multifunctional building is the main venue for the orchestra’s concerts and one of the most prominent focuses for the promotion of classical and popular music.
The concert hall with a seating capacity of 1000 regularly holds concerts of symphonic and chamber music as well as opera performances, and welcomes well-known Lithuanian and foreign performers. The stage of the concert hall, which has hosted performances of such outstanding musical figures as Violeta Urmana, Sergei Larin, Sergei Leiferkus, Philip Glass, Al di Meola, Laurie Anderson and others, is also favoured by Lithuanian and foreign jazz musicians and performers of popular music. It is the venue of the GAIDA international contemporary music festival and of the KAUNAS JAZZ festival.
