Love, pure and true, cruel and deadly, like a fairytale and real ... The great Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovski convincingly described it in all its aspects, taking the listener across the spectre of various emotional states. This year marks the 170th anniversary of the composer’s birth. His musical oeuvre is among the world’s most famous composers works. His First Piano Concert is the dream of all pianists, while many can hum tunes from “The Nutcracker” or “Swan Lake|”. “Eugene Onegin” completed in 1878 is among ten most produced stage works. The opera is full of the passions from Pushkin’s drama, to which man is no stranger even today. The orchestra conducted by Gintaras Rinkevičius invites you to start the 22nd concert season and to listen to the impressive ensemble of distinguished singers. The best Lithuanian soloists – Edgaras Montvidas, the winner of the Golden Stage Cross, who performs on the prestigious stages in Europe, Asmik Grigorian, also the winner of the Golden Stage Cross, the winner of the Lithuanian National Prize Vladimiras Prudnikovas, Samsons Izjumovs, a special guest performer from the Latvian National Opera, and others will perform. The Polifonija Choir, which was established over thirty years ago and has won many awards at international choir competitions and festivals, will perform with the LSSO for the first time. “Eugene Onegin” is the second opera by Tchaikovsky performed in concert version on the stage at the Congress Concert Hall: in 2005,” Queen of Spades” was produced.
